I’m Going on a Hunger Strike…

Yep, its official… I’m going on a hunger strike.

Ok, that might be a slight exaggeration. I’m not completely going on a hunger strike, that would be a little dramatic. I’m actually pledging to not eat lunch out until I sell a house. You see, I’ve had a little bit of a dry spell and I don’t like it. Don’t get me wrong I’ve been very busy. I have a lot of listings & I’m working feverishly to market them online, to clients, to other agents, etc. I’ve been showing properties and doing my best to find my current buyers their dream homes. I’ve been popping by and/or calling past clients, business partners, friends and family drumming up new business. I’m reading every book & article I can get my hands on.

Now I know that many of you are already thinking that giving up eating lunch out isn’t much of a sacrifice but its a big thing to me. Eating lunch out is a social thing and a business thing for me, I rarely eat alone. I go with other agents and we talk about the market, we discuss the latest listings and we try to help solve each other’s problems. Sometimes I go with one or more of my business partners (bankers, builders, insurance agents, cleaners, stagers, etc.) and I look for ways we can help each other increase business and customer satisfaction. Occasionally I go to lunch with one of my A+ clients to thank them for their support and referrals.

But in true Me vs. The Market (think Man vs. Food) fashion, I need to do something drastic and change things up. Not eating lunch out changes up a lot of things for me…

#1 The money savings alone is huge which makes sense since I won’t make any more money until I sell something

#2 If I’m not spending an hour to hour & half  eating lunch out everyday I have that much more time to work on finding buyers & sellers

#3 The sheer idea that I have to bring my own lunch or go hungry until I sell something is causing me to brainstorm, write to do lists, set goals & daydream about the first place I’ll eat to celebrate

#4 Although my colleagues mean well, I’ll be avoiding all the negative talk, doomsday scenarios & tales of their latest crazy deal.

#5 When my business partners hear that I’m not buying lunch again until I sell something I bet they’ll be working overtime to send referrals my way!

So now I need to sign off and figure out what I’m taking for lunch today… sure wish I’d have gone grocery shopping yesterday.
